I’m Dr. Grace Whitfield, a psychologist and relationship expert with a heartfelt mission: to help couples rediscover love, rebuild trust, and strengthen their connection. For over 15 years, I’ve worked with couples navigating everything from communication breakdowns to emotional disconnection. I approach each session with warmth and empathy, striving to create a safe space where both partners can openly share their feelings and work together toward healing.
I started CoupleCompass.org as a way to reach beyond the therapy room and connect with couples who might need guidance but can’t sit across from me in person. My small, dedicated team shares my passion for helping others, and we work tirelessly to provide content that’s both relatable and backed by research. Together, we draw on our professional expertise and life experiences, writing from a place of understanding and genuine care.
Recently, I made the difficult decision to sell my private practice and take a sabbatical. After many years of deeply rewarding, yet emotionally exhausting work, I realized I needed time to reflect and recharge. I’m considering a move back to South Africa, the country where I was born but left when I was just four years old. It’s a place that’s always felt like a piece of my past I’ve longed to rediscover, and this time away feels like an opportunity to reconnect with those roots.
Even though I’m stepping back from direct counseling, I’m still here through the articles and resources on CoupleCompass.org. My response time may be slower as I navigate this new chapter, but I’m committed to continuing to support and guide couples on their journey. At the heart of this work is my belief in the power of love and the resilience of the human heart. I’m here to help you through the ups and downs of marriage, because for me, this isn’t just a job—it’s a calling and a passion I carry with me, no matter where I am in the world.
